WE ARE CURRENTLY UNABLE TO OFFER ANY FARM TOURS OTHER THAN THE PROSPECTIVE BUYERS OF ALPACAS. WE HOPE TO BE BACK UP AND RUNNING TOURS AGAIN SOON.

Every April, Fox Wire Farm Alpacas runs a series of one-hour shearing tours so visitors can witness firsthand how we shear our alpacas. During the tour, we will discuss all aspects of how alpaca fiber is used to make the products we sell in our store.

Our shearing team is the best in the business, brought in from New Zealand each year.  Last year, we sheared 90 alpacas in approximately 8 hours, so it was quite an exciting production!

On shearing day, buses  depart on the half hour from the Fox Wire Farm Store & Boutique starting at 9:00 a.m. until 11:30 a.m.  After lunch, tours resume from 1:30 p.m. until 3:30 p.m.  Upon arriving at the shearing barn at the farm, visitors disembark from the bus and enter the shearing barn to witness fully fleeced “puff balls” being sheared, then see the newly sheared alpacas walk out “butt naked”!  You will be amazed at how quickly and safely the shearers harvest the fiber from each animal.

The cost of the Shearing Tour is $10/person age 5 and older. Cash or check is preferred payment. We can accept all major credit cards; however, a $0.50 convenience fee is applied per person to cover credit and debit card merchant fees.

We will be announcing our Shearing Day and finalized tour schedule in early March 2019, so keep checking back here on our website for details.  We also will post that information as soon as it becomes available on our Facebook and Instagram pages. Walk-ins are welcome on the tour, but reservations are strongly encouraged.
